Thought that I would work from a painting  by Colley Whisson. I see that I didn't quite get the center far tree to separate from the background well. I'll paint a few more from his newest book, see if i get a little mojo from down under.

Tried to get the far hills to look far and the sky to look better, But i missed it on all the other areas of the painting..   Sad but true.  I can do many more though

This is the challenge for this week. All the detail in the ref photo got to be too much. I tried to keep detail to a minimum, however, didn't feel like i pulled it off. I think the taxi looks like one though.

Same scene different comp. It's only about a mile to the far shore, but i obscured the the mountains,  for some reason.. Think i just don't focus enough.  :)

These are so tough to get the close value and hues to look like a rhododendron and i wasn't even close. I used a #6 brush on most but i think these are some of those patience and discipline subjects

Starting a foggy painting of Southwest harbor.

Below is a carving by an artist from Southwest harbor, Sandy Bridges.  It's a Woodcock and is carved out of bass wood and took about 300 hours to complete.
