8x10 oil on wood

Thought that I would work from a painting  by Colley Whisson. I see that I didn't quite get the center far tree to separate from the background well. I'll paint a few more from his newest book, see if i get a little mojo from down under.

Last Pennsylvania painting

6x8 oil on canvas panel

Thought that i would give it another go with trying to keep it vagueish. I didn't pull this off. Maybe i should sit down when painting these little ones.

City challenge

12x16 oil on paper
This is the challenge for this week. All the detail in the ref photo got to be too much. I tried to keep detail to a minimum, however, didn't feel like i pulled it off. I think the taxi looks like one though.

Little sketch across Southwest harbor.

6x6 oil on hardboard

These are so tough to get the close value and hues to look like a rhododendron and i wasn't even close. I used a #6 brush on most but i think these are some of those patience and discipline subjects

I felt that i got lost while working on this one. But i suppose I could think about it and make improvements next time.  Also Jamie Wyeth is having a Show at the Farnsworth this month.

harbor fog

12x16 oil on hardboard
Starting a foggy painting of Southwest harbor.

Below is a carving by an artist from Southwest harbor, Sandy Bridges.  It's a Woodcock and is carved out of bass wood and took about 300 hours to complete.

Apple on box

                                                       6x6 oil on hardboard

Placed the apple on the carton box. Really just trying to get values proper.

Now this is a photo for Monhegan harbor. I forgot to down size it so if you click it, it'll                        be hugh.
