Rhododendron

6x6 oil on hardboard

These are so tough to get the close value and hues to look like a rhododendron and i wasn't even close. I used a #6 brush on most but i think these are some of those patience and discipline subjects

I don't know much about flowers, but I DO like THIS painting! I stay away from painting recognizable anything. That's just my impression.

Warm regards.

PS Paint on, dude. Paint on.

You're off to a grand start. The swirling composition is quite fetching.

Those vivid but bright purples can be hard to capture in oils! I have my best luck painting in the values in a violet/white mix, letting it dry, and then glazing over the top with transparent quinacridone magentas and/or indrathrene violets.

This would look very nice on a fine china plate for the wall, too! Good job! The colors are nice.
