A Saturday paint along.

12x16 oil

Jon Hardesty had a paint along while he painted this portrait on line . It's a 2 hr. pose.

Some folks watched him paint, then plan to paint their version later from a photo ref.

copy of Ed Potthast

16x20 oil

Here is a copy of an Ed Potthast that I liked, and thought that would make a good challenge for me. It's a loose style where the figures aren't painted in detail. It might be classed as an Impressionist painting.

Lobster pots

9x12 oil on canvas panel

This is the fourth painting in a row that didn't come out well. I scrapped the first three. I'll have to check the old timers to see how they made it work. No worries though.

Bass harbor shack

8x10 oil on wood

Working on a Shack on Bass harbor. Just don't know how those guys can make distant boats look good. Mine are crap, but that's why i'm working on them.

The temp is painful here in Dallas. Those weather casters are full of it," Hi of 98". It's 82.6 in side with the ac on.

Tail end of Somes sound

8x10 oil on wood

This is facing north standing on Sound dr. ( i think ) If you look the other way you see Somesville and the sound. It's nice a peaceful, and i thought that even though there isn't a good subject standing out, i could still just paint it. It's dark woods on the left side.

Otter cliffs

8x10 oil on hardboard

Looking across to Otter cliffs in Acadia NP. Just trying to get a feel for the scene, and not any subject of focus, like a lobster boat or kid jumping on the rocks.

Boat house

                                                       8x10 oil on hardboard

Was trying to get the little boat house, and the trees around the far area to look painterlyish. I think that i should have used thicker paint on the house, to pop it out, maybe.   So i did see what it would look changed a little. Not rocking it though.

The little cove over on Peabody dr. around the corner from northeast. Fore ground rocks look a little weak, but what can i do?

Magpie

8x10 oil on wood

Thought that I would work from a painting  by Colley Whisson. I see that I didn't quite get the center far tree to separate from the background well. I'll paint a few more from his newest book, see if i get a little mojo from down under.
